Fishing Our Region

Cooby Dam - Some great weather this week seen alot of anglers finally getting out again on our local lake. Good reports again with the bank fisherman really get amongst the Yellow Belly and Jew. finding the deeper banks away from the weed is best, Worms and saltwater yabbies working very well. Other fisherman having good success jigging blades and smaller soft vibes around the deeper banks, finding small drop off and structure around the edges has been rewarding.
Cressbrook Dam - Getting better week by week at our other local lake, finally some good fish have been caught, mainly Yellow Belly around the edges, trolling has been quite productive. Working Jackall Tn60's around the weed and rock walls has been popular. If you do find a patch of fish sitting close to the deeper banks vertically fishing blades and smaller soft vibes has also been effective. The bass have been a little harder to tempt and even find at times, the Bull Creek arm is holding good schools on the larger points. Spoons and blades being the lures of choice.

Leslie Dam - This week we have seen some more consistent cod catches. This cold weather has really brought them on, working structure close to the banks has been key, larger spinnerbaits and chatterbaits being popular, plenty of decent Yellow Belly have also been caught, the majority of these fish on bait like saltwater yabbies and worms. jigging blades is always another good option if you can find those more active fish.

Wivenhoe Dam - Wivenhoe has fished quite consistently these past few weeks and its continued this week as well. Launching from Billy's Bay allows you to fish the southern end of the lake, the majority of the fish are schooled in this area, these large flats are holding good numbers of fish, just finding these fish at times can be a little tricky with the large body of water that is wivenhoe, trolling can be very effective and it the best way on finding those more active fish. Trolling Lures the Smak hardbody's, Little rippers and other larger crankbaits like the Rapala DT20 and Hideup 400 has been popular.

Bjelkie Peterson - Bp is finally back and fishing very well with some great report, the quality of fish isnt the best but thatll come with time as the weather warms up. The larger points in the main basin are holding massive schools of fish, metal blades, plastics and spoons all working well, Fishing the edges has also been successful with some good fish being caught, smaller suspending jerkbaits has been effective, fishing these slow with long pauses around the spindly trees has been picking up the better quality Bass and some big Yellas.

Copeton Dam - These past few weeks Copeton has seen a lot of attention and with good reason, everyone has seen the quality of fish it has produced. Fishing Hard swimbaits like the Baitsanity explorer gill and Jackall Gantarel along slow tapered banks or the back of bays has rewarded alot of anglers with some giant fish.
