Fishing Our Region

Cressbrook Dam - The yellowbelly have been on the bite at Cressbrook. The man made structures that have been placed in the lake have been holding loads of yellowbelly and jigging zx blades around them has worked really well. The locations of these structures are signed at the ramp. Trolling has also seen some success on both bass and yellowbelly but the bass seem a bit patchy right now.

Cooby Dam -
Trolling Jackall TN60's has been working well along with some other diving lures like the cooby cobbas and Smak 19's. plenty of good yellowbelly suspended throughout the lake at around 20ft which can be targeted by trolling or a 10 second count down and retrieved with TN60's. Jigging blades is also working well the key is to work them around a structure or change in taper on the bottom. these locations are also good for bait fishing with Saltwater yabbies and live worms.

Leslie Dam -
Suspended fish through the creek channel have been the best to target on deep diving hard bodies while there have been some good cod hanging around the structures and edges of the creek beds. Fishing large spinnerbaits will tempt those better cod. Saltwater yabbies are the bait of choice on the edge of the creek bed.

Coolmunda Dam -
Similar story at coolmunda with plenty of fish sitting in the creek channel and up on the contours. With the dam being a bit low its quiet easy to fish the creek bed with it only being around 15-20ft so most of the popular hard bodies will do the job.

Callide Dam -
One of the big barramundi lakes that is kept quite, the lake is getting low and with the warm weather the fish have all pushed into the main basin. lots of big barra and easy to find its just a matter of tempting them with the right baits. Zerek Live Mullet, Molix 140 and Crush city Jerk have been stand out barra lures this season.

Monduran Lake
 - Quickly becoming the most popular Barra lake in Australia, and for good reason. The big barra keep coming and anglers are really tuning in on catching them. Theres a bit to it and will depend on what electronics your are running in your boat. Running Live Imaging is the new thing and its making barra fishing a lot easier simply locating barra and casting right on to their nose. If your fishing traditional sounders you will want to target the thermocline in around 15-17ft slow trolling molix and zerek live mullets has worked well. working some of the deep points throughout the night has also seed good results.
