Product of The Week - Australian Crafted Lures
With the exception of the Minnows and the 40 & 60mm Invaders, AC lures are constructed from injected plastic (which enhances durability) and all ranges use the highest quality fittings, laser cut Lexan bibs and VMC hooks. AC offers ten lure designs from 40-150mm and depth ranges from 3-40+ feet to cater for the popular angling species such as Murray cod, golden perch, trout, redfin, bass, bream, flathead and barramundi. The colour range is diverse
Fishing Our Region
Cooby Dam - Cooby has fished well this past week after the inflow, Most of the fish have moved out deeper compared to last week, concentrating on the edges of the creek bed amongst the Northern arm, the Buoy line is still holding good numbers of fish as well. Deep diving hardbodies has caught consistent numbers for the trolling anglers while spot locking and vertical fishing blades and Gulp Minnow grubs have also been effective.
Cressbrook Dam - Some Promising and better signs from Cressbrook to start the year, plenty of Yellow Belly being caught on the main lake points. again blades and smaller soft vibes working well. The bass have been few and far between with them being very spread out amongst the deeper water, spoons and plastics being the best options.
Leslie Dam - By far the pic of the local lakes at the present time. Most of the fish have been caught in the deeper water, edges of the creek bed will be your best bet, finding isolated structure is to finding the better numbers of fish. Zx40's, TT switchprawns have been the standout yet again. The Cod have been quite active again on trolled hardbodies or heavy spinnerbaits, again working the edges of the creek bed seems to be the best option.
Coolmunda Dam - This lake is dropping in water level by the day but this hasn't stop the fish from biting. Out from the dam wall on the edges of the creek bed (around structure) is your best chance. size 2 stump jumpers have put some really good fish on the board, Both Cod and Yellow belly reacting well to trolled lures. Still plenty of fish in the timber on the southern side of the lake, casting Jackall Tn60' and 70's tight to structure has caught some great fish, along with jigging blades like the Zx40 and TT Switchprawn.
Lake Monduran - Another fantastic week in regard to the quality of fish being caught, still good fish holding in deep water around the dam wall. Both South and North B are starting to show signs of the barra moving back up the lake. Suspending Hardbodies has again proved its dominance for these deeper fish, another very popular bait has been the irukandji Sicario rigged with a Barambah Barra jighead 1.5oz to keep this bait in the strike zone.
Lake Awoonga - Awoonga has been flying under the radar the last few weeks, good fish have been located up the back of the lake after the recent inflow, large prominent points have been key, set up on a point with big wind assisted casts has been effective as the water is still quite clear. The sunset bite and further into the night have been the best bite times. Plenty of smaller fish around the 60cm mark have been caught throwing surface and suspending Jerkbaits into the shallow weedy bays.
