Product of The Week - Daiwa Certate SW
It all begins with a solid one-piece aluminium monocoque (MQ) body, housing an oversize G1 Duralumin drive gear for increased winding power, strength & gear durability. The MQ body eliminates flex & twisting and improves weather sealing thanks to the one-piece construction with no seams or screws to hold a side plate on.
24 CERTATE SW is now available from 4000-6000 sizes in both H & XH ratios. The addition of the 4000 size now puts it firmly in the limelight for a workhorse snapper reel, barramundi or other heavy-duty fishing which doesn’t require high line-capacity of heavy PE line
Fishing Our Region
Cressbrook Dam - With the weather heating up so has the edge fishing. Casting lipless crank baits and spinnerbaits to the weeded edges has worked well. These fish have been up super shallow looking for that warmer water. This technique has been best during the morning and late afternoon. Still good fishing being located on the larger points in the basin and up the bull creek arm of the lake. Spoons and heavily weighted plastics being popular. Good reports of Red claw also starting to show up, finding the right areas around the weed and rockier edges is your best chance.
Somerset Dam - This past week has been rocks or diamonds out on the lake, these fish have received a lot of fishing pressure over the past few weeks with multiple tournaments and school holidays. These fish are schooled up on pelican point it’s just a matter of when they will bite, the late afternoon has been by far the best bite time. Spoons like the Nories wasaby and palms slow blatts working well.
Leslie Dam - Still the most consistent lake of late. Plenty of cod being caught up around sandy creek and opposite the dam wall, find the structure around the edges of the creek bed and they won’t be far away. Trolling seems to be the most consistent method, Tn70’s and spinnerbaits have been working very well. Good numbers of Yellow belly showing up in the main basin around that 20 foot mark, jogging blades and soft vibes being the lures of choice, while saltwater yabbies have been dominant.
Lake Monduran - This lake has been on fire for the past few months and it continues this week. The class of fish that have been caught has been incredible with the majority over the meter mark. A wide variety of techniques from deep to shallow these fish are wide spread over the lake. You don’t need to travel far the main ramp as these fish are starting to move down the southern end of the lake early this year. Trolling is a great way to target these fish and can be very effective as you are covering a large body of water. In saying that there is massive numbers of fish further up the lake in shallow bays and out from points, before your next trip be sure to study the wind direction. Locating the warmer water is key!
Lake Awoonga - Good reports starting to come in and a lot better numbers of fish already caught compared to last year which was quite tough. Awoonga fishes much better during the low light periods especially at night as these fish come out of the thick weed to actively feed. Casting the ever faithful Molix 140 and Zerek live mullet have been the lures of choice.
