Fishing Our Region

Cooby Dam - This past week we finally got some much better weather compared to previous weeks, that being said more fishermen have hit the lake and the majority having some much better success. The bank anglers getting some very good numbers on the board, bait being the better choice, saltwater yabbies and live worms proving successful. Anglers getting out on the lake have also had good results, either fishing bait or jigging blades and soft vibes. Trolling will start to become alot more effective as the water begins to warm. targeting the shallower banks with structure up the northern arm seems to be quite popular. Keeping your in the strike zone close to structure is key.

Cressbrook Dam - Slowly getting better week by week, some lucky anglers have had some very good sessions. Targeting the large points in the Bull Creek arm has seen some good fish landed. Deep Crankbaits and spoons being the lures of choice, while others have also landed some good yellow belly vertically fishing blades and Gulp minnow grubs close to structure.

Wivenhoe Dam - It's that time of year where this lake really starts to fire and the fish begin to school up in big numbers. The southern end of the lake out from Billy's Bay has been by far the standout area. Spoons and soft plastics worked along the flats have been working. If your keen to put the work in the edge bite has been quite good as well casting lipless crankbaits like the ever faithful Jackall Tn60 has also produced.

Moogerah Dam - By far the most consistent lake at the moment, plenty of fish school up in the main basin, main lake points and the timbered flats is where you'll find the majority of the fish, plastics like the sliders and Crush city suspect has been getting great results, keeping your lure close to the bottom has been key on getting these bigger fish, Jackall Mask vibe has also had some great action as well, either hoping this bait across the bottom or slow rolling has been dyanamite.

Copeton Dam - Everyone has seen the fish this lake is producing at the current time and it still remains the same this past week, some giants have been caught all over the lake as well as up the river end, finding slow tapered grassy edges is the best place to start, these fish move to the warmer water to find the large schools of spangled perch and boney bream. Imitating these 2 bait sources is key for getting the bites, it's hard to go past the Irukandjie sicario in either the 9 or 11inch rigged with and Osprey wiring harness and your choice of chin weight is the perfect combo, hard swimbaits like the jackall gantarel and Baitsanity explorer gill is another great option for working those very shallow banks
