Fishing Our Region
Cooby - The fish have reacted well after the recent rain, some good fishing moving shallow looking for warmer water, out in front of the Sailing Club and in front of the ramp has been popular, again Zx blades have been very popular as well as soft Vibes. If your keen to put the traps in the bait anglers have had very good success with Live shrimp, Saltwater Yabbies have again produced some very good fish. The northern arm is still holding good numbers of fish as well as the Hump near the Bouy line.
Cressbrook - Its been a few hard weeks for the Bass fisherman but the Yellow Belly have still been the standout species for this lake, main lake points have fished well with blades and soft plastics. Jigging vertically with Zx40's and the Profishent vixen blades are working a treat. The Bass are well and truly spread out through the lake with a few smaller patches of fish showing up in the Cressbrook Creem arm, Spoons and blades have been the lure of choice.
Leslie - Its hard to Believe Leslie is still producing big numbers of fish even after the recent rain, the deeper water has definitely been more productive, finding isolated structure on the edges of the creek bed is your best bet, again its hard to go past the old faithful ZX40 as it just catches.
Somerset - Some very positive reports this week with some better numbers being caught, Pelican Point still holds reasonable numbers while the northern end is starting to look good. Spoons like the Palms Slow Blatt and Hot Bite raptor have been the consistent catches. The Kirkliegh flats is holding reasonable numbers of fish, ice jigs have been popular while these fish are tight to the bottom.
Coolmunda - Great to see this lake starting to be a little more consistent, the deeper water in the old creek bed has been popular, trolling deep diving hardbodies can be very effective at this lake especially while these fish are a little spread out. Good signs of the timber starting to show some good results, jigging blades tight to the structure has been successful.
Glenlyon - Its been a slow start to winter but its slowly starting to come together as the weather settles and the fish start to move in shallower. finding bait and shallower banks and bays is key for this time of year, Topwater has been popular as well as large Swimbaits and Chatterbaits. Good numbers of Yellow Belly have been caught amongst the timber, Jigging blades in tight to the cover has had the best results.
