Fishing Our Region

Cooby Dam - Our local lake has had some very positive results this week, working the deeper water in front of the Sailing Club and the northern arm has had good results, targeting the fish close to the bottom with Blades, soft Vibes and also Jackall Tn60 or other lipless Crankbaits. The Bait fisherman have had huge success with Live shrimp as well as saltwater yabbies. There's plenty of shrimp getting caught if you're willing to put the time into that.

Cressbrook Dam - Theirs been a good chance this week from Cressbrook, good reports of anglers getting in on the action, the fish have pushed to the edge and biting very consistently on Both Jackalls, Spinnerbaits and suspending Jerkbaits, trolling the edges will see some very good action as well. Still good schools of fish sitting off main lake points and out from the Picnic area/Boat ramp. Spoons have been getting the best reaction from these fish as well as soft plastics like the old faithful 3inch slider grub.
Leslie Dam - Leslie has been on of the most consistent lakes for the year and it continues with cricket scores of Yellas getting caught all over the lake, out from the dam wall amongst the dam wall has been popular for some as well as the mouth of sandy creek, targeting isolated structure off the edge of the creek bed in around 25ft has been best, jigging blades and soft vibes getting the most attention, plenty of smaller cod have also been active in these same areas.

Somerset - At this time of year Somerset can be rocks or diamonds depending on the boat traffic, The spit area has fished well of a morning before the lake gets too busy, Pelican point and red rock is still holding the better numbers of fish during the day, Spoons and pLastics being the lures of choice.

Coolmunda Dam - Coolmunda starting to get some attention after alot of years with some tough fishing, the timbered areas in the lake is your best bet, for the lure fisherman casting spinnerbaits and chatterbaits to the structure has caught some good cod, Jackall Tn60's working in these areas have also proved yet again to be dominant. Trolling the old creek bed has also seen plenty of action, working your lures tight to the bottom is key for fishing the open water.

Monduran - Its been hard to drive past this lake at the moment with the amount of Barra being caught. Last week with the Hot Northerly winds the southern end of the lake fished the best. Both North and south B are holding good numbers of fish as well as the end of Bird Bay, these fish are starting to move deeper as the Temperature rises as we head into summer. The Main Lake points are shaping up well and starting to hold fish. The Molix 120 & 140 has again been the star of the show as well as the Zerek Live Mullet. During the morning before the temp rises there has been fish sitting close to the banks, targeting these fish with suspending hardbodies like the Jackall squirrel 79 and the Samaki redic has accounted for some quality fish. Following the wind and finding that warmer water is key.
