Fishing Our Region

Cooby - Another week of cold weather has definitely made the fishing a little tougher to previous weeks. Still the standout technique is jigging blades or soft vibes amongst the structure right to the bottom, finding those active fish just off the bottom is key. The trolling anglers have struggled getting consistent results with the fish preferring a slower retrieval. The Bouy line area and the northern arm has produced the better numbers of fish this week.

Cressbrook - Better quality of fish are starting to be caught around the lake, the main points in the cressbrook and bull creek are holding good numbers of fish. Metal blades and hot bite spectres have been effective. The edges are definitely worth a cast as these fish are starting to move closer in towards the warmer water, crankbaits or suspending jerkabiats will be your best choice.

Leslie - Leslie hasn’t changed much at all apart from a lot of anglers starting to throw much larger baits for Murray cod as this colder weather has Realy started to make a move amongst the shallow water. Shallow running swimbaits and chatterbaits have been the lures of choice. For the Yellow belly anglers plenty of success jigging blades and soft vibes. Working the deeper water on the edges of the creek bed has had the best results. Saltwater yabbies proving there dominance for the bait anglers.

Somerset - Pelican Point remains the hot spot with plenty of fish schooled up and eating well. Heavier spoons like the 30g palms slow blatt has been popular aswell as the Hot Bite Raptor. With these these fish holding tight to the bottom these heavier baits have been key.

Wivenhoe - It’s that time of year when Wivenhoe comes into its own, the edge fishing has Really turned it on the past few weeks. Massive numbers of bait have pushed these fish super shallow and reacting well to crankbaits and Jerkbaits.

Copeton - Some big frosts on the big Cod lake has fired these big fish up. It’s just matter of finding those active fish. Finding bait amongst the shallow grassy banks is key. The early morning bite has produced good numbers fishing large Topwater baits over the top of the spindly trees. During the day good reports of yellow belly holding tight to standing timber up the river arm, Blades, Gulp Minnow Grubs and Soft vibes has seen consistent catches.
