Fishing Our Region
Cooby Dam - Cooby has again fished well when the weather has permitted anglers to head out, with big winds has made it a little difficult. Casting Jackall Tn60's around the submerged grass has produced some great sized yellow belly, also other anglers targeting the deeper points and rock walls have caught well on metal blades like the ever faithful ZX 40.
Cressbrook - Similar results to last week with a lot of smaller fish caught in the main basin off the boat ramp, Metal blades and soft plastics have been the go to lures. The edge fishing will turn on as this colder weather settles as the fish move shallower to the warmer water. Targeting Banks with suspending hard bodies such as the Jackall Squirrel 61 and 67's. Trolling anglers have caught their fair share throughout the day working the deeper rock walls with Tn60's and other lipless crankbaits.
Somerset - Unfortunately another very slow week on the lake, very dirty water had made it difficult times, the bait fisherman having the better success, The timber section of the lake will be your best chance. Saltwater Yabbies and Live worms being the best option.
Leslie - There is no sign of the lake slowing down even with the colder weather. This lake has fished unbelievably well over the past few months. The majority of the fish have still been caught in reasonably shallow water around 15ft. Zx Blades have been the standout while the smaller Zerek fish traps and Samaki soft vibes have also accounted for a lot of fish.
Boondooma - Consistent reports have been coming in over the last week with a lot of fish caught, the size hasn't been the best but there's plenty to be caught, casting metal blades around the edges have produced the better quality fish, other anglers having some good success fishing both the Stuart and Boyne river arms, good yellow belly have been caught fishing standing timber. Either zx blades or soft vibes have had the results while bait anglers have opted for Saltwater Yabbies and Worms.
Monduran - The fishing hasn't been the best since this colder weather has pushed in and making finding the barra very hard, The trolling anglers having the majority of the success, Trolling the tree lines outside of B Bay has been super effective, the ever faithful Barra classic in the 10ft range has been dynamite. For the casting anglers searching for warm water is key, targeting the shallow submerged grass with plastics has been the best option. Follow the wind to find the bays with the warmer water.
