lure of the week
Bassman Carl Compact

Bassman Compacts work proving themselves on saratoga at Boondooma for Matty Langfordhttps://fishnbits.com.au/product/bassman-carls-compact/

Designed with Carl this is a small spinner bait aimed at those finicky fish. A small compact bait that come with small tandem blades, that can be fished slow and deep or quick in the shallows, or with a single Colorado for a slower presentation and more vibration. It was originally designed to be used on a spin rod to target flats fish in deep water. But with it’s compact size it quickly became a favourite and was asked for in other sizes. They come in size ¼ 3/8 ½ 5/8 & a variety of proven fish catching colours.

Cooby and Cressbrook both remain shut due to an Algae outbreak, Cressbrook’s Camping ground and park remains open.

Somerset Dam
Somerset has fished well throughout the week with anglers getting good numbers of fish, the afternoon has been the best bite period, South Pelican has produced great quality fish up to 50cm, retrieving your lure very tight to the bottom is key to getting a reaction from these fish, Tailspinners and Spinnerbaits being the lure of choice.

Wivenhoe Dam
Good quality fish have been caught from Wivenhoe over the last few weeks, with the water temperature slowly becoming a little cooler there has been a great edge bite early on in the day, Casting Spinnerbaits, Lipless Crankbaits and Jerkbaits to the weed edges has been the standout technique.

Leslie Dam
Still good fishing on the lake this week with most anglers catching good numbers of fish, Casting or trolling larger Spinnerbaits has been the go to lure for sometime now and still proving to be the pick of the lures. For the bait anglers there has been quite a good bite into the afternoon, with Saltwater Yabbies and Worms being the bait of choice.

Boondooma Dam
Boondooma stays the same from the previous weeks with the lake fishing very well, the bass are schooled in the main basin not towards the dam wall, targeting these deeper suspended fish with plastics and spoons has been the go to lures, The stuart arm has also fished well into the early morning, casting Spinnerbaits and metal blades to standing timber has accounted for some great Yellow Belly.

Copeton Dam
Its the time of year when Copeton comes into its own, the fish being that little bit deeper due to the warmer weather at the moment, Trolling the Jackall Gigantarel with a small chin weight is getting the reaction from the fish.

Gold Coast Offshore
Finally some better weather during the week, allowing anglers to get out and get amongst the great snapper fishing on the close inshore reefs, the 24 and 36 fathoms reefs are holding some good fish, snapper up to 8kg were caught drifting over these reefs with either soft plastics, fresh pilchards or squid. The Mackeral have showed up east of Mermaid beach, float lining live yakkas have accounted for some good sessions this past week.
