Lure of the week

The Live Target Range of lures Is still a little unknow but the attention to detail is second to none, These lures are aimed at exactly imitating the look of the bait while they have bibbed lures that look like a ball of bait. Even their swimbaits are kicking off well, There are some great carp look-a-like lures perfect for the Cod and Barramundi. A good affordable range of lures well worth checking out when next in store. Just ask one of our friendly staff if you can’t find them.

Cooby Dam

Another great week on the water at Cooby, big number of fish has been caught trolling Tn60’s and small diving hardbodies around the weedy banks. The fish have been biting very close to the edge in roughly 8 foot of water so getting the lure in the strike zone is very important. Also jigging ZX blades close in to the rock wall has been productive as well. For the bait anglers salt water yabbies and worms is your best bet.

Cressbrook Dam

Slowly picking up from last week, most of the fish have been located up around Eagles Nest and around the main point up the Bull Creek arm. Once finding the fish targeting them with Spoons like the Palms Slow Blatts or Hot Bite Gang Banger should produce some nice fish. For those who enjoy trolling The Smak range of hardbodies is hard to go past, great for searching and covering a lot of water.

Somerset Dam

The fishing at Somerset is still red hot and probably the pick of the local dams at the moment. Brads Bank and Beam’s creek are holding big numbers of fish. Casting heavily weighted plastics and spoons have produce massive fish up too 3kg.

Coolmunda Dam

Another awesome cod bite this week, Casting Bassman DT’s and 4×4’s close to laydowns or standing timber is your best bet, Fishing the flats off the old creek bed has again seen some great cod and yellow belly, jigging Jackall Transam’s and Mask Vibe’s in the deeper water have been working a treat. Salt water yabbies are a must for the other anglers.

Glenlyon Dam

Some great reports of big cod this past week, casting tight to structure with larger spinnerbaits seems to be the most productive way of getting the bites. Fishing the shallower water on sunrise or sunset has seen some good attention on topwater, lures like the Zerek Stalkers are a great option.

Copeton Dam

There still plenty of time to get that fish of a life time before the end of the year, Slow sinking Swimbaits or weighted plastics have worked well on the timbered points in the main basin, the top water bite has reduced but the swimbait bite is still in full swing. The new moon seems to be the pick of the times on this lake.

Tip of the week

Spinnerbaits and soft plastics are a popular bait in our impoundments. While the beetles spin is not as well known yet highly affected it is a blades configuration that can be attached to a plastic, blade or vibe and draw extra attention, all the while being able to select the weight and size of your bait.
